Cieffeplast Fastening Engineering
COBRA cable ties are engineered to improve efficiency and ensure maximum safety for the installer.
Head
Rounde cable ties’ head to avoid edge in the wiring and radiated inner corners to increase the tensile strenght
Tooth
The small pre-coupling tooth allows to prepare the ties to be closed, avoiding to get it unstrung. Rough surface to easy handling
Collar
Short sizes have the small collar slanted in order to easy the fitting
Edges
The lateral edge are high as the rack to avoid cutting the cables
Founded as a specialist in plastic processing, the company has evolved into a modern Industry 4.0 manufacturer located in the heart of the Veneto region, in Maserà di Padova.
Today, the COBRA brand is synonymous with excellence in the professional fastening sector. Our mission remains unchanged: to transform a simple gesture – fastening – into a guarantee of absolute quality.
The expansion of our headquarters aims to strengthen our logistics capabilities, ensuring rapid response times and the delivery of millions of units within short timeframes.
Cieffeplast made the strategic decision to focus exclusively on creating its own proprietary product line, launching the manufacturing of COBRA cable ties.
The company initially dedicated itself to plastics processing, gaining significant expertise in assembly and specialized technical finishing.
Why choose COBRA plastic cable ties?

What materials are used for COBRA cable ties?
Following extensive testing and analysis, we have selected high-quality, virgin Polyamide 6.6 (Nylon) for our production. This is an engineered, hygroscopic material that offers superior thermal and mechanical stability.
This premium raw material allows us to develop specialized product lines, including V0 flame-retardant, heat-stabilized, and UV-resistant cable ties.
For specific industrial requirements, we also offer custom production runs using Polypropylene (PP). Polypropylene is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic polymer characterized by exceptional chemical resistance to acids and bases. In the fastening sector, it is primarily chosen for applications in chemically aggressive environments where standard Nylon might degrade.
How long have we been in business and what do we do?
Founded in 1986 and currently ISO 9001:2015 certified by the Swiss Association for Quality and Management Systems (SQS/IQNet), Cieffeplast Srl is an Italian manufacturer based in the province of Padua (Veneto), specializing in the production of fastening systems and plastic cable ties.
For forty years, the company has been a benchmark in the industry. Through our COBRA® Cable Ties brand, we serve the international market, offering a complete range of cable ties designed specifically for professional use.
COBRA products are the result of constant evolution, delivering the excellence of Made in Italy to over 60 countries worldwide:
Certified Production: Every day we manufacture millions of items, treating every single cable tie with precision technology to guarantee secure, durable, and efficient cabling. This quality is proven by voluntary UL product certification, CE declarations of conformity, and compliance with REACH and RoHS directives.
High-Resistance Materials: We use only premium quality raw materials—certified UL 94 V-2, UV-resistant, and halogen-free—to ensure mechanical and chemical reliability in any environmental condition.
Service and Logistics: We understand that in professional operations, time is of the essence. Our industrial infrastructure allows us to consistently guarantee fast and punctual shipping.
Constant Commitment: From Padua to the rest of the world, we continue to innovate with precision. Every solution we offer represents a concrete commitment to quality and sustainability.
What is the UL 94 V-2 flammability rating?
A flammability rating indicates how easily a construction material (raw material or plastic) can ignite and how it behaves during combustion.
The most common flammability classifications for plastics refer to the international UL 94 standard developed by Underwriters Laboratories. This defines the test methods, conditions, and classification criteria, summarized as follows:
Class | Test Method | Description |
HB | Horizontal Burning | Plastic material burns slowly in a horizontal position, with a maximum burn rate of 76 mm/min (thickness ≥ 3 mm) or self-extinguishes before 100 mm. |
V-2 | Vertical Burning | Plastic material burns in a vertical position and self-extinguishes within 30 seconds after removal of the test flame. Flaming drips are permitted . |
V-0 | Vertical Burning | Plastic material burns in a vertical position and self-extinguishes within 10 seconds after removal of the test flame. No flaming drips are permitted. |
To ensure the highest quality standards, Cieffeplast exclusively uses raw materials that comply with the strict regulations of Underwriters Laboratories, carrying UL 94 Class V2 and V0 certifications.
What is the temperature resistance of COBRA cable ties?
Our products are manufactured using premium, high-quality virgin Polyamide 6.6 (Nylon), which guarantees the specific characteristics detailed in our Cable Tie Specifications Table.
Operating Temperature | -40°C to +85°C |
Installation Temperature | -10°C to +60°C |
Max. Permissible Peak (Short Term) | +110°C |
Melting Point | +256°C |
Durability / Lifespan | Excellent / High |
Flammability Rating * | UL 94 Class V-2 Compliant |
Moisture Absorption | 2.7% (at 50% Relative Humidity) |
*Note: All Polyamide 6.6 cable ties are manufactured using UL 94 V-2 classified materials.
We also offer specialized production runs using heat-stabilized polyamide, designed for cable ties that can withstand brief peaks of up to 150°C (and up to 125°C in continuous use).
What is the flammability rating of COBRA cable ties?
Our products are manufactured using premium, high-quality virgin Polyamide 6.6 (Nylon). This ensures that COBRA cable ties achieve a UL 94 V-2 flammability rating, meaning they are self-extinguishing within 30 seconds after the removal of a flame, effectively stopping combustion independently.
For specialized applications requiring higher safety standards, we also offer custom production runs using flame-retardant polyamide with a UL 94 V-0 rating. This material is designed to prevent flame propagation, ensuring maximum fire protection in critical environments.
Are Cobra cable ties UV resistant?
Of course! Black Cobra cable ties are suitable for outdoor use and are UV resistant. The black color of the virgin raw material contains an element called carbon black, which increases the life of the tie when used outdoors. To further extend the life of the product and increase its resistance to ultraviolet rays, we recommend the line specifically designed for resistance to heat, light, and UV rays. What is the technical term for plastic cable ties?
They are known by many names, often as plastic ties, zip ties, or electrician’s ties, but also as wire ties or fasteners. The electrical industry was the first to adopt this versatile tool, establishing the correct technical terminology: cable ties.
The modern cable tie was invented in 1958, originally designed for the aviation industry (specifically for Boeing) to replace the old method of bundling cables with waxed lacing cord, a process that frequently caused hand injuries to workers.
Initially featuring a metal pawl, cable ties evolved by the late 1960s into a one-piece Nylon construction (all-plastic)—the standard technology used globally today.
The COBRA line carries this legacy forward, representing the professional evolution of this essential tool. Manufactured using state-of-the-art injection moulding machinery, our ties guarantee tensile strengths far superior to the original prototypes of 1958.
